Leaving Texas, May 22

This vintage gas station is in Shamrock, TX, the last town before entering Oklahoma. It is now used as a office for the Chamber of Commerce. We were quite impressed with how well it has beem maintained. This building is big enough to house the station and an auto repair and parts section which many did during the era this one was in service.

This is a familiar scene from our childhoods.

Good bye to Texas.

Visitors' Center. This is a new building and landscaping.

The wind is really blowing, just look at the trees at the welcome center. When we get this wind head on or to the side it makes traveling with the trailer more difficult. However, the trailer is handling quite well in spite of the wind. Besides the strong winds and cloudy skies it is hot. The Bear has refused to come out in this weather. He says that 90 degree temp. with 70% humidity is more than his furry body can handle, and he's not too fond of the wind either.

Amber Waves of Grain. Too bad it is so cloudy and subduing the colors. There are also Spacious Skies. The land is quite flat here.
