May 31-June1, Nashville, TN

On our way to Nashville, TN.
Thank goodness for these rest stops!

I have never seen sooo many trees and sooo much grass.

The speed limit on the road to the KOA camp ground in Nashville. An odd number. We haven't been calling ahead to reserve spaces, but our neighbor in Memphis said that he had been informed that the CMA awards are coming up and the camp grounds in Nashville would be booked, so we did call ahead. However, there is plenty of space, the crowds don't start showing up until a little later this week. We had no idea when the CMA awards are, and since there had been so many ads on TV we thought they were over. If we had been avid Country Music fans we would have know the schedule.

This is one of the sites for the High priced big rig motor homes. At first I thought the motor home parked here had brought this, but it is too heavy and bulky, then I noticed the same set up at the other sites in this row.

I know, it's a toilet seat, but an interesting one. This seat is encased in a plastic sleeve, and when the red button on the left of the housing at the back is pushed the sleeve is pulled around to the right so that a fresh, clean section of plastic is ready for use. At first, when I saw the contraption at the back of the seat, I thought is was some sort of makeshift bidet. With automatic soap dispensers, faucets and hand dryers (instead of paper towels), and this toilet seat trash is a minimum problem in this KOA rest room.

Bear thinks the little cabins at the KOA are great, just his size. He thinks he should have one just like this near the beach in Ventura. Yea, right, like that's gonna' happen.

The Gaylord Opry Center. Hotel, convention center and a building so large it engulfs those around it. Some where is the Grand Ole Opry building, it was impossible to get a good enough view to take a photo so I found a photo on the Orpy web site to include in this blog.

Historic home we found on our little drive around Nashville.

We came upon this monument while driving along a street looking for a museum. This was requisitioned to commemorate the end of the Civil War. This is standing at the corner of a park in a residential section of Nashville. We saw no mention of it on any of the maps we had. By the way, we didn't find the museum, but enjoyed the drive.

Bear was impressed by this monument. It is beautiful. The inscription states the event that took place in this area.

The youth is bringing together the North and South, represented by the horses, in unity.

One of the historic mansions in Nashville. The gates were open, but an appointment was needed to go inside, so we just admired the exterior.
